Bernard Casey was a Capuchin friar from the province of St. Joseph based in Detroit. We Capuchins of Central Canada have enjoyed a close friendship with our brothers of the St. Joseph province over the years and would like to introduce you to Venerable Fr. Solanus Casey, ofm, cap. and the cause for his beatification.
As a young boy, though physically weak, he was strong spiritually. As a teenager, he saved a man from drowning, believing that the help of Our Lady made it possible. As a young man several difficult incidents brought him even closer to God: the ending of a relationship with a girl whom he loved, and being a witness to a murder.
